Privacy Policy

This policy explains what you share with Dock & Seawall Guide when you request quotes, send a message or use the site. It also explains how that information is used and shared. Use the contact page form to ask about your information. Updated October 29, 2026.

The short version

  • Your request goes to your selected contractors, or up to 3 matched network contractors when you make no picks.
  • We do not sell personal information; sharing is limited to the recipients and purposes described on this page.
  • Florida residents and other visitors can ask to see, correct or delete their information through the contact page form.

Information you enter in forms

We collect what you type in the quote form, contact form and contractor form. A quote request includes information about the waterfront property, the proposed work, your contractor choices and the ways you want to be contacted.

Quote-form details include your town, ZIP code, street address, project type, type of water, home ownership, timeline and whether an insurance claim pays for the work. They also include your contractor picks, name, phone, email and contact preferences. Messages and contractor-form submissions contain the details you enter there. These submissions are used for the referral, reply and recordkeeping purposes described below. When you ask about a submission, identify the form and project so your message refers to the right information.

Basic server and analytics information

We collect basic server and analytics data about use of the site. This includes pages viewed, device information and an approximate location derived from an IP address. It is used to help improve the site.

Page-view data describes which parts of the site visitors use. Device information describes the device used to reach those pages. Approximate location from an IP address is different from the street address you enter for a waterfront project. Both fall within this policy: one is basic usage information, and the other is information you submit in a form. Questions about these types of information can be sent through the contact page form, along with questions about your submitted request.

How we use requests and messages

We use your information to send a project request to contractors, reply to messages and keep records of consent and referrals. We also use information to match finished jobs to public permit records and to improve the site.

Your project details describe the work you are asking contractors to look at. Your contractor selections identify the recipients you picked, and your contact details and preferences support their contact with you. Referral and consent records document the request and the choices made with it. Matching a finished job to a public permit record connects the referral with the recorded construction work. Contact-form and contractor-form information is also used to reply to the messages and requests submitted through those forms.

Who receives your information

A quote request is shared with the contractors you named. If you make no contractor picks, it goes to up to 3 network contractors serving your area. Information is also shared with site and form hosts, and when the law requires.

The contractor recipients are the ones named in your request or matched to it when you do not make selections. Service providers that host the site and forms also receive information for those services. Sharing otherwise occurs when required by law. We do not sell personal information. Choosing contractors and entering contact preferences are part of the quote request, so review those entries along with the project details before you submit. Use the contact page form for questions about information associated with a referral.

Ask to see, correct or delete information

Florida residents and other visitors can use the contact page form to ask to see, correct or delete their information. State the action you are requesting and identify the submission or project your message concerns.

For a correction, describe the entry you want changed and the correct information. For a request to see or delete information, make that request clear in your message. A quote request, general contact message and contractor-form submission are different records, so naming the form helps describe what you are asking about. This contact route is also available for questions about how information is used or shared. The retention section explains the purposes for which records are kept.

How long records are kept

Records are kept as long as needed for referrals, consent records and legal duties, then deleted. The purpose of a record matters to how long it is needed. This policy does not set a fixed retention period.

A referral record connects a submitted request with the contractors named or matched to it. Consent records document the choices associated with the submission. Records can also be needed for legal duties. These are the reasons for keeping information after it is entered in a form, rather than treating the submission as a message used only once. When records are no longer needed for these purposes, they are deleted. Send questions about your records or a deletion request through the contact page form.

Children under 16

The site is not for children under 16. Its quote forms concern waterfront construction projects, and its contractor form concerns participation in the referral service. The information practices on this page describe those forms and use of the site.

If your question concerns information about a child under 16, use the contact page form and state what information you are asking about. You can ask to see, correct or delete information through that same route. Identify the relevant submission when describing the concern, just as you would for another information request. The sections on information use, sharing and retention explain how records are handled and why they are kept. This section states the age group the site is not intended for.

Policy changes and questions

Changes to this policy are posted on this page with an updated date. Check the date when you read the policy. Questions about the policy or the information connected with your use of the site go through the contact page form.

The updated date appears in the introduction so you can identify the version you are reading. The policy describes the information collected, the uses of that information, the recipients and the contact route for information requests. When you send a policy question, identify the part you are asking about. When the question concerns your own submission, describe that submission and the action you want taken. Changes will appear here with the new date for the policy.
